H & H Foods:
36 years of quality service.

In 1966, Salvador Hinojosa, founder of what is now known as H&H Foods, and father of the current executive management, took an aggressive step with exemplary vision. With a sales volume of slightly over $2.5 million and twenty-five (25) employees he borrowed $378,000 from the bank with a SBA Guaranty of 90%. The loan was to relocate the company to Expressway 83, outside the city limits of Mercedes, Texas.

By 1968, H&H Meats, with its new facility, increased sales to over $4 million and its customer base was expanded to include food service in hotels, restaurants and school district in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.

With a keen vision of the future and in search of new opportunities to expand its markets, H&H Meats entered the federal procurement program in 1976; the company secured contracts with the USDA and the Department of Defense. This new market penetration enabled the company to achieve sales of $10 million and increased to 100 employees. The year of 1976 also marked the date when Salvador Hinojosa died and thus leaving the second generation, and present executive management, to operate the business and to preserve his legacy.

Under the leadership and vision of his sons, Liborio, Ruben, René and Jaime, the four brothers mobilized the entire company for growth since the early ’70’s until the present day. The third generation is now in place in mid-level management positions and is being groomed to assume the leadership reins after the turn of the 21st Century.
